Class 1 are bucket fillers!
Today we read a story about bucket fillers and bucket dippers. We learnt that everyone around the world has an invisible bucket and we can fill other peoples buckets by saying and doing kind things. Having a full bucket makes us happy. Occasionally, people can be bucket dippers and say or do mean things. We now have a class bucket so that we can write down all of the lovely things that we say and do and fill our bucket! Here are some of our super bucket filling ideas.
Florence Nightingale – The Lady with the Lamp
Because we have been learning about brilliant bodies and have a Doctors’ Surgery role-play, we have started learning about Florence Nightingale. This has really captured everyone’s imaginations in Class 1! Have a look at our portraits and story boards of her life.
Bear Hunt and Tehidy Woods Trip
Last week we went to Cornwall College for a workshop and installation based on ‘We’re going on a Bear Hunt’! It was great fun to explore and we made two poems of our own. Then we went to Tehidy woods for our teddy bear picnic and some activities. We made mini dens for our teddies and woodland crowns for ourselves. We also had a camp fire and sung some camp fire songs. What a great day! Thank you to everyone who helped.
A nurse came to see us!
Yesterday, Oliver’s mum came in to talk to us about being a nurse. We all learnt a lot about what she does in her job as well as lots of body facts. We even got to try out putting bandages on each other, and looked at syringes and a stethoscope.

Leafy Maths
We have been doing some tricky maths this week. We have been using leaves to make arrays and look at different ways of showing numbers. Everyone did a fantastic job!

It has been a busy week this week as we have started our new topic – Brilliant Bodies!
We have now got a Doctors’ Surgery role-play area, and someone slightly funny-looking appeared this morning!
The Journey to Muzuno Island
Today we received a voice message from Professor Schneebles telling us to go to Muzuno Island. We also found a rucksack on the trim trail with life jackets, chime bars and telescopes in. On the way we spotted some pirates and had to turn around, to go in the opposite direction, quick! When we got to Muzuno Island, it took us a while to find the plant. When we found it there was a bear right beside it so we had to play the chime bars to send it to sleep to that we could get the plant. Hopefully Professor Schneebles will get better soon!
A Fond Farewell to Keziah and Reuben
Yesterday we all said a very fond farewell and good luck to Reuben and Keziah who are off on a new learning adventure with their family. We were all sad to see them go, but equally just as excited for them! Keep in touch and have an amazing time!!
