Super Class 1 Mathematicians!

Today we have had lots of fantastic maths going on inside and outside of the classroom. We have been using leaves and shells on tens frames to practise our number bonds to ten and twenty. We have also been working really well as a team to build a giant hundred square. As well as all of that, we have started making some number bond ladybirds, inspired by Julia Donaldson’s ‘What the Ladybird Heard’ – photos to follow!

I’ll huff and I’ll puff and I’ll blow your house down!

Last week, we were investigating different materials and thinking about which ones would be best to build a house with. We had to think about lots of things such as whether it was waterproof and how strong it was. On Friday, we took some inspiration from the Three Little Pigs and built houses made of straw, wooden sticks and bricks. We then tested which houses were the strongest with our wolf (hairdryer) who huffed and puffed and blew some of the houses down!

Into the woods we go!

It was a difficult decision with all of the lovely story books that were brought in, but last week we finally decided that we would like our next topic to be ‘in the woods’! This week we have been learning about traditional tales that are set in the woods. Here are some pictures of our learning. Can you guess which traditional tales we have been reading?IMG_0197IMG_0192IMG_0211IMG_0217
